Feeble Attempt At Poetry #1
2.25.11

Friendship and love
Gestures of charity
Spur intense regret
Upon their disparity

But one should be wary
Of such regret
Presenting to some
A far greater threat

That of indulgence
Narcissism in fact
Which to oppose
Necessitates tact

Upon revelation
One has taken for granted
Let die of thirst
All which was planted

Understanding the pain
Certain to follow
For the slightest of ego
Remains hard to swallow

For its easy to miss
What comprises lament
Fooling oneself
Causing further descent

Spinning the wheels
Of false devotion
Playing into one's hope
Of comprehending emotion

Until one abandons
Self-centered contrition
The remorse which has come
From one's own demolition

The lessons to learn
Make no impression
Dooming the soul
To further depression
